▐ By Khalid Amayre in the West Bank, Axis of Logic Exclusive
21 May, 2007 - I am writing this piece a few hours after an American-supplied Israeli F-16 bomber launched laser-guided missiles at the home of a Palestinian lawmaker in downtown Gaza City. The missiles destroyed the home of Khalil al Hayya, a lawmaker, killing eight people, including his wife and six of his family members.

The bombing was not a collateral damage but a deliberate act of criminality designed to inflict "shock and awe" on a people thoroughly tormented by 40 years of occupation, savagery and systematic persecution. The annihilation of al-Hayya's family is not an anomaly or an isolated incident. It represents the "normal order of things" in the context of the Zionist occupation of Palestine.

During its Gaza campaign last year, the Israeli army and air force exterminated entire Palestinian families by bombing their homes in the quiet hours before dawn, always under the morally corrupt pretext that a certain family member, whose ideas are unacceptable to Israel or incompatible with Zionism, was lodging in the targeted home. ▐ In an unprovoked attack, the Israeli Military on Monday afternoon fired on a number of Palestinian and International journalists in the village of Ertas, near the southern West Bank city of Bethlehem. Crowds of local Palestinians, international peace activists and Israeli peace activists had gathered in the village on Sunday morning to non-violently protest against the bulldozing of land and uprooting of trees in the area. After a scuffle in which the Palestinian Minister of Information Dr. Mustafa Barghouthi and a number of farmers were attacked and four Israelis were arrested, the military operation went ahead as planned. ▐ Since the beginning of the second intifada in September 2000, the IDF has prohibited students from the Gaza Strip from studying in the West Bank and Palestinian students from studying in Israel. A delegation of Israeli academics recently flew to Britain to lobby against a motion by the British Union of Universities and Colleges to boycott Israeli institutions of higher education. More...

▐ It is a matter of firm historical fact that the current Jewish citizens of Israel have no ethnic or historical ties to Jerusalem. They are Ashkenazi Jews, which means their roots are Turkic/Mongolian and not Semitic. The Sephardim Jews, who are descendents of the original occupiers of the Holy Land, do not like their converted brothers and there are very few of them in Israel today. More... ▐ A representative for Hands Off Iraqi Oil (HOIO) said that an Iraqi oil law could mean that international companies may receive full control of Iraqi oil fields for more than two decades, Iraq Directory reported. It was also mentioned that Shell Company has been working hand in hand with the United States and Britain to arrange an international policy to permit multinational companies to receive solitary control of Iraq's oil fields. Associated Press, 2006. 11. 10 - UNICEF says 17 children killed in Gaza, and 2 in West Bank so far in November, 40 killed in July. Nineteen Palestinian children have been killed in the past 10 days, making November already the second deadliest month of the year for young people in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, UNICEF said Friday. The UN children's Fund said 17 have been killed in Gaza and two in the West Bank so far in November. "What children and adolescents have endured the past few days will likely have a long-lasting impact," UNICEF spokesman Michael Bociurkiw said in Geneva. "They have seen family members killed and their communities destroyed. They have been confined to their homes, in many cases without access to food, water or electricity."
Israeli artillery shells ripped through a residential neighborhood Wednesday in the northern Gaza town of Beit Hanoun, killing at least 18 people, including eight children. +++

[But hey, you should ask Miri Eisen the Israeli Government spokeswoman, she knows: "Israel does not target civilians..." CNN 2006. July. Maybe they are all terrorists? And what is the UN-UNICEF doing? --tj]
