On December 23rd, 1913, Congress voted the Federal Reserve Act, which was taking away from Congress the power to create money, and was handing over this power to the Federal Reserve Corporation. One of the rare Congressmen who had understood all the issues at stake in this Act, Charles A. Lindbergh (father of the famous aviator) said:

"This act establishes the most gigantic trust on earth. When the President (Wilson) signs this bill the invisible government of the Monetary Power will be legalized.... The worst legislative crime of the ages is perpetrated by this banking and currency bill."
